The preliminary ethnobotanical survey of medicinal plants in Develi (Kayseri/Turkey)

Background and Aims: In Turkey, there is a growing interest in ethnobotany due to the wealth of biological cultural diversity. The main purpose this study record highlight medicinal plants used therapeutically Develi district. Methods: data were obtained during different seasons 2010-2011 through face-to-face interviews. Medicinal collected with guidance informants, traditional uses was recorded. Botanical identification all species made, voucher specimens deposited at Istanbul University, Herbarium Faculty Pharmacy (ISTE). Results: informants reported on 14 belonging 8 botanical families. These are for about 26 purposes. most dominant family Lamiaceae (6 species) followed by Asteraceae (2 species). Various plant parts such as leaf, fruit, flower, root, wood fruity branch used; aerial part consumed more frequently than other parts. Conclusion: Despite modernization change, many people still benefit from distributed This offers valuable information knowledge plants, which could form basis future phytochemical pharmacological researches.
